The Institutes CPCU Society has established and adopted a set of core values that represent our beliefs and principles as an organization. These values will guide us in our decision making by defining who we are, what we believe, and who we want to be. Incorporating core value statements into our framework allows the Society to foster a cohesive organizational culture and strengthen member and stakeholder engagement through shared goals, beliefs, and principles.

The Institutes CPCU Society is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels. Specifically, we believe in:

  • Promoting a diverse membership that reflects the populations we serve
  • Creating a pipeline of diverse talent to support the Society and the risk management and insurance industry

  • Empowering chapters to embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion, thereby elevating the importance of Society membership among members’ customers
  • Establishing strategic partnerships that support cultural diversity
  • Educating members on diversity and inclusion topics, both at the global and chapter levels of the Society
  • Strategically leveraging the Society’s collective experiences and communication skills
  • Maintaining a sustained dialogue to share information and best practices, as well as leverage our differences

In promoting diversity, we recognize that everyone is unique and a product of many factors, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, physical abilities, academic/professional backgrounds, heritage, life experience, religious beliefs, political beliefs, and other ideologies.

Our definition of equity is: providing equitable treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all people, while simultaneously striving to identify and eliminate barriers that may inhibit members of any one group.

Finally, we believe that, through inclusion, all people have the right to be appreciated as and considered valuable members, and to be treated fairly and respectfully. We will deliver on this commitment through a targeted strategy focused on:

  • Leadership accountability—Society staff and leadership will strive to develop and elevate the next generation of diverse leaders.
  • Inclusive culture—Society staff, leadership, and members will foster an inclusive culture where all members can contribute and reach their fullest potential.
  • Organizational commitment—We will align our people, processes, and programs to support equitable outcomes.

Mission alignment: We will ensure that Society staff, leadership, committees, and interest groups showcase the impact of diversity and inclusion to our colleagues, customers, clients, and communities.
